Speaking at the launch of the Awards Cathaoirleach Noel Bourke stated “more than ever it is important to recognise the exceptional work that groups and individual volunteers are engaging in across the County, we hope that the variety of categories for this year’s awards will encourage groups to nominate them selves for an Award and use this opportunity to highlight their hard work & commitment to the community”.

The Awards Scheme is unique in that groups are celebrated and rewarded for the work they have undertaken over the last few years. Groups are not assessed on a project proposal for future work but rather on their achievements.

The scheme has been designed to ensure that all groups in Offaly will get a chance to enter over the lifetime of the scheme.
The Awards Scheme gives Offaly County Council the opportunity to recognise and value the work of all these volunteers in Offaly and the contribution they make to quality of life in their localities.
