The Role of the Chairperson

The Chairperson will act as spokesperson for the Group. He/she will represent the group at meetings and other forums that are relevant to the work of the group.

The Chairperson will keep track of the business of the Group and ensure that it is progressing as planned. He/she will direct activities according to the decisions of the group and in consultation with the officers of the Group, he/she will undertake and/or delegate tasks between meetings as the need arises.

Meetings

The Chairperson will:
  • Arrange the venue for meetings
  • Prepare the agenda for the meeting in consultation with the Officers
  • Chair meetings
  • Facilitate effective meetings

Correspondence
  • The Chairperson will liaise with the Officers and the Secretary and act as appropriate

Finance
  • The Chairperson will liaise with the Treasurers regarding the finances of the Group and will also be a cheque signatory

The AGM
  • In association with the officers of the Group, the Chairperson will manage and organise the Annual General Meeting. He/she will prepare an Annual Report for presentation at the AGM. This report will provide an overview of the yearˇ¦s activities and will provide a vision for the coming year. The Chairperson will ensure that members have an opportunity to contribute to Annual Report
