The Management Committee


The Management Committee of 14 members is elected as follows:
  • 8 Area Fora Members - Each Area Forum elects 2 Members
  • 4 Offaly Community Forum – The full membership elects 2 members from General Groups that work on a county basis and 2 from groups that work on a countywide basis and have self identified as being from the Social Inclusion Pillar.
  • 2 The Representatives Sub Committee elects 2 members.
The Management Committee elects its Officers and is supported in its work by the Community Forum Support Worker. The Support Worker will attend Management Committee meetings in a secretarial capacity.

Role of the Management Committee:

The primary role of the Management Committee is to ensure that the work of the Forum is progressing according to the requirements of the membership. Specifically the Management Committee is responsible for:
A) Drafting an Annual Plan of Action; monitoring progress and producing an Annual Report to the membership.
B) Managing policy development and the development of positions on issues as they arise
C) Acting as a sounding board for representatives where no policy or position has been developed.
D) Acting as the conduit through which all information flows; this includes:
- Receiving reports from County & Area Fora meetings, from Representatives and Issue Groups
- Managing information flow and ensuring feedback to the membership
E) Progressing issues that arise from those meetings and reports via representatives on the decision making bodies and via other appropriate means
F) Monitoring and tracking the progress of issues and policies
G) Facilitating all elections and appointments
H) Dealing with the day to day business of the Forum.

Number of Meetings: 11 per year.
Term of Office: Members will be elected for a term of five years and may serve a maximum of five years. (See Terms of being a representative). 25% rotation will be achieved every year. The AGM will fill vacancies; casual vacancies will be filled via consultation between the relevant Local Area Forum and the Management Committee.

Members of the Management Committee will present reports from Management meetings at their local quarterly Area Fora Meetings
